System Setup

To setup the Cloud9 software and the Falcon Haptic device please follow the instructions below.
PLEASE NOTE that the Cloud9 license only allows the software to run on a specified computer.

Step 1: Check your computer specifications and performance

Cloud 9 could run smoothly in any mainstream desktop PC from 2005 or any middle-class laptop from 2006. If you feel any doubts about your computer's performance, please follow the instructions in the page of Minimum Requirement to check if your computer meets the requirement.

Step 2: Purchase your Falcon Haptic device (essential to Cloud9)

  • Cloud9 and Falcon: as ‘Chameleon’ bundle £495 from A1 Technologies( www.a1-tech.co.uk)
  • Visit Novint’s online store in US: home.novint.com/store/store.php for nearest retailer of Falcons
  • EBAY: Falcons sold via Novint’s Falcon Store and on individual basis

Please ensure correct adaptor is supplied.

Step 3: Get Cloud9

  • Purchase from A1 Technologies, with Falcon, in Chameleon package (CD) £495
  • If you already have a Falcon:
    • Purchase Cloud9 on CD from A1 Technology for £295
    • Purchase license from A1 to download from Anarkikangels website

Download directly from this website if you have Stakeholder Status

PLEASE NOTE: The software will only work if you have a haptic device  connected to your system.

Step 4: Setup the device

The Novint Falcon device has a standard USB 2.0 connection, and comes with a driver disc which needs to be installed once you receive your Falcon. The installation details will be located on the driver disk to help you in the setup. The driver for the Falcon device can also be downloaded from Novint’s website.

We recommend the use of the Falcon Test(Falcon Diagnostics) to verify the status or diagnose problems with your Falcon. The Falcon Test utility could be find under your Falcon driver installation fold, available in such as C:\Program Files\Novint\Falcon\TestUtilities\FalconTest , together with the help document about how to user Falcon Test.

Step 5: Setup Cloud9 Software

Ensure you do not have any previous Cloud9 Software installed on your machine, if this is the case it will need to be uninstalled to prevent any clash with the new application.

To do this go to Start Menu->Control Panel->Add or Remove Programs. Select Cloud9 and click remove.

  • Extract the downloaded 'ZIP' file and run the 'Setup' or 'Setup.exe' file.

Step 6: Activate Cloud9

Chameleon Package: an activation code is supplied with the CD.
Please follow the instructions in this page  to activate your copy of Cloud9.

Note to the Windows 7/Vista Users

We have received reports from Windows 7/Vista users stating that Cloud 9 will encounter a "Can't initialize the program" error. This is caused by the security settings of Windows 7/Vista (the default role of user is not Administrator).
To solve this problem, you need to right click the Cloud 9 icon, then choose property, then set compatibility mode to XP and choose run as administrator.
For a step by step instruction of how to solve this problem, please have a look at System Setup FAQ .
