Q.01: How many stakeholders will be involved?
A. : To create a high quality application with the many features that designers want and need will require between £75K and £100K, this means aiming for not only a high number of stakeholders, but also supporters, sponsors and partners. The software can also be purchased separately without the benefits that stakeholders receive.

Q.02: What will the funds be used for?
A. : The funds will be used primarily to employ core staff including a project manager, and two software engineers. The project manager runs the project, collating feedback, working with the engineers, and attracting new stakeholders to ensure development continues. The software engineer's objectives are to create and continuously develop the software and liaise with both the project manager and CEO of Anarkik3D. Additional costs which are likely to be incurred throughout the development include: Software License fees, Specialist/Legal fees, Project Overheads, and Royalty payments to Edinburgh College of Art and the University of Edinburgh (the haptic sketch modelling concept and the specifications are the result of collaborative research between the two institutes.).

Q.03: How will stakeholders be attracted to this project?
A. : Marketing will also play a big part in attracting new stakeholders, and we will be using a variety of methods including viral marketing and online marketing to build awareness. Hands on demonstrations are also important so enthusiastic users showing others will be encouraged.

Q.04: Can supporters convert to stakeholders?
A. : Of course, we would love for everyone to become a stakeholder with us, and this can be done by paying an additional £86.25 (VAT inclusive). We are aware that all adventures carry some risk and it is usually greatest at the beginning of a project, so we offer our stakeholders worth while benefits to give them a great deal.

Q.05: How does the 'Friend Referral Points' System work?
A. : Friend Referral Points - Demo Cloud9 to someone else and recommend us and you receive 1 point which can be redeemed against software updates after your initial stakeholder period (1.5 years), or used to gain discounts on 3D printing when they become a Stakeholder with us.*

* We reserve the right to withdraw the Stakeholder Friend Referral Scheme at any time, but without affecting current point holders, in order to ensure that the Stakeholder benefits are not oversaturated.

Q.06: How long will the project last?
A. : Software development can take indefinite amounts of time; we envisage at least another year for the development of Cloud9. Progress and development will be reviewed at the end of 12 months with reports produced per quarter. A software product will be released for sale to non-stakeholders but without the benefits of free updates and the referral system.

Q.07: What happens when the product is launched and sold and who then benefits from the revenue from sales?
A. : A continuing revenue stream is needed to support the user group, maintain and update the software, and the running of the website. A 5% royalty from the sale of the software will be split between Edinburgh College of Art and University of Edinburgh for the original IP from research that is the foundation and concept behind the software. We will also pay a license fee to Reachin for the use of their haptics middleware; HaptX.

Q.08: What are Anarkik3D providing?
A. : Anarkik3D owns DrawnReality and has transfered its well researched concepts and assets into the AnarkikAngels software. As Anarkik3D Ltd has also invested a lot of its own time and resources (£30,000) into the CRE8 sketch modelling package for Novint, we agreed that much of this development work can be used too. The programmers will be employed by Anarkik3D and will be contracted by AnarkikAngels to carry out the programming with the source code remaining property of Anarkik3D and will be protected using ESCROW.

Q.09: Why is the 'crowd sourcing' method being used?
A. : We opted to use 'Crowd Sourcing' as it gives us access to a vast group of users who test the software and feedback on how well the development is progressing with the functions, features, and tools they want to use and see included in the package.

Investors we initially approached are not convinced that the design, applied arts and arts community is large enough to give them a big enough return quickly enough on their investment. If however, they did invest, the level of return they expect would put the cost of the software out of reach for most individual designer craftsmen. Crowd sourcing fits well with the more open ethos that web2.0 encapsulates.

Q.10: Why not just launch DrawnReality?
A. : This software is basically a demonstrator: it is very usable but has a limited range of tools. It was developed for Sensable's OMNI haptic device which costs over £1000 and before the Falcon was prototyped, which can be purchased for around £200.
