Anarkik3D was formed in 2007 in order to develop and commercialise a new generation of touch
immersive software. The team are based within the Edinburgh College of Art close to the heart of
Edinburgh City Centre.
This prototype software was developed by the team in 2006 out of research
to demonstrate and test the potential for haptic software as a tool for digital 3D
conceptualisation for use by professionals within the creative sector.
It allowed for the exploration of creating and modelling objects in a virtual environment
to complement Computer Aided Design (CAD).
The feedback and developments from the DrawnReality application were used to develop
and enhance the next generation of applications including CRE8 and Cloud 9.
The Cre8 application was created by Anarkik3D for US Company Novint Technologies for use with
their Falcon haptic device, a 3D motion touch hardware device.
The Falcon replaces the traditional mouse to make Cre8 easy to learn and to use.
A 3D device makes it possible to have a true three-dimensional workspace in which
users can construct and manipulate objects from a variety of different design angles.
The added ability to also ‘touch’ and alter the ‘feel’ of virtual objects, creates a more
immersive experience for the user.
This software is based on the Anarkik3D product ‘Drawn Reality’ and is intended for everyone and anyone to explore their own creativity within a virtual
risk free environment.
